For the money, you'll get a car-based SUV equipped with a noisy 2.3-liter turbocharged engine we've come to know from Mazdaspeed6 and Mazda MPS. It is capable of delivering 260 ps and 380 Nm.

The mini-SUV has been tried and tested at Mazda's European research and development center in Oberursel, Germany with tests conducted at both local Autobahns and the famous Nurburgring's Nordschleife race track.

As the result of the tests, the Mazda CX7 has got its body rigidity increased and different parts of chassis reinforced. The vehicle's top of the range 2.3-litre gasoline-powered DISI turbo engine, which is capable of producing up to 260 PS and 380 Nm of torque has also been mated with a specially developed six-speed manual gearbox.

The results are mostly thanks to the vehicle's such standard and optional safety features as ABS and DCS systems, traction control and tire pressure monitoring as well as standard roll stability control. There is also a comprehensive set of passive safety systems including three-point seat belts for all passengers, second row Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) child safety restraints, seat belt reminding systems, advanced dual front airbags, front side-impact airbags and both front and rear air curtains.
