It seems that our speculation as to the 2015 Porsche Cajun's body design has just been proven right. Well, maybe not exactly proven, but, at least, German car magazine AutoBild has just published a small article regarding the upcoming super-compact crossover SUV from the major German brand.

2015 Porsche Cajun / Roxster will rival the Range Rover Evoque?
The 2015 Porsche Cajun (not Roxster, folks, sorry) will possibly be built on the Volkswagen Group's MLB / MLP platform and will most clearly set its sights on the recently revealed Range Rover Evoque coupe-shaped compact crossover SUV.

Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia tries on hiking boots
Although from the very beginning the Porsche Cayenne family of SUVs was regarded mainly as an outrageously laughable attempt of going mud-plugging in an Armani suit, the vehicles proved to have not that bad off-road capability. A normal (i.e. not tuned) Cayenne features an 8.5-inch ground clearance, a low-ratio box and locking differential. With its lower center of gravity the luxurious SUV can handle approach angles of up to 45 degrees and lean up to 30 degrees before toppling over.

And now Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is trying to make the Cayenne a real rally-racer. The new Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia is not only painted in that orange-on-black color scheme from the Half-Life franchise. With all its additional gear it could have successfully be driven by Mr. Gordon Freeman through the contaminated barrens of the HL2 brave new world.
Although its 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V8 still develops 385 bhp, which is 45 bhp more than the older engine could produce, the SUV is actually about 15 per cent more fuel efficient than the less powerful model. More than that, it's a flexible-fuel engine, which means it not only drinks premium gasoline but can also run on a mixture of a gasoline and ethanol with up to 25% of the latter.

The Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia is now equipped with an electronically controlled multiple-plate clutch and an additional transverse lock usually available only as an optional Offroad Technology Package. To make the Transsyberia's off-road capability even more prominent, Porsche's engineers have fitted the vehicle with the air intake tube moved up to its roof so that no water could get into the intake manifold while crossing water streams.
The SUV also sports modified wheels and suspension, such as the doublearm front axle, which comes with reinforced track control arms and new off-road tires measuring 255/55 R 18 T and fitted on 18inch "Cayenne S II" light-alloy wheels. The regular foot operated brake is replaced by a hand brake enabling the driver to understeer the vehicle intentionally in a tight bend.
Inside, the Cayenne Transsyberia lacks rear seat bench, interior body panels and sound proofing material but sports new safety cage and its glove compartment is replaced by a Tripmaster computer. The luggage compartment also comes with two 20 liter reserve cans, and two transport boxes for tools, company is reporting in its press release.

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid is coming upon us
Porsche is keen to develop its own hybrid vehicle by the year 2009. The hybrid will be based on the gas-guzzling Porsche Cayenne luxury SUV. Not that an average Porsche owner is tight on money to buy an extra gallon of gas, it's just a kind of statement, you know. Go green, be patriotic and all this stuff.

The gas-electric hybrid drivetrain will be developed in close cooperation with Porsche's established partner -- Volkswagen AG. It will be married to the Cayenne 4WD transmission and is expected to cut vehicle's fuel consumption by some 30 per cent and to increase its mileage by about 4/5.5 mpg in the city/highway cycle.
The next candidate for the hybridization is the upcoming Porsche Panamera four-door coupe, ArabianBusiness.com is reporting citing Associated Press news agency.

2008 Porsche Cayenne features new engines, more aggressive styling

Although being one of the world's most successful automakers, the German Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is still struggling to make profitable its ill-fated Porsche Cayenne SUV. The SUV is technically brilliant, all right, but its very off-road ideology is not congruent with an image of the company, which is considered the best in making the on-road sports vehicles.
Trying to give its new Porsche Cayenne a little bit more sex appeal, the company has introduced a new range of bigger, mightier engines and made the Cayenne's styling much more aggressive and dynamic.
The new members of the Porsche Cayenne family were unveiled on Monday at the North American International Auto Show in the Cobo Center, where the public could actually see the latest Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Cayenne S and top of the range Porsche Cayenne Turbo SUVs.
Having a base price of $43,400, the 2008 Porsche Cayenne will be offered with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, capable of producing 290 hp and still mediocre for the brand 283 lb-ft (383 Nm) of torque.
Standing in the middle of the range, the new Porsche Cayenne S, will be offered with a base price tag of some $57,900 and will sport a much more impressive 4.8-liter V8 engine, generating 385 hp and 369 lb-ft (501 Nm) of torque.

The most expensive 2008 Porsche Cayenne Turbo will be priced at $93,700 and will be equipped with a twin-turbocharged version of the 4.8-liter V8, pumping out 500 hp and producing almost enormous 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. No wonder that the hottest Cayenne jumps from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 4.9 seconds and achieves a top speed of 171 mph (275 km/h).
Porsche also says that, although being more powerful, the new engines provide better fuel efficiency than the older powerplants.
The SUVs will be safer too. New Porsche Cayenne family members may be ordered with the latest Dynamic Curve Lights adaptive lighting system (standard on the Porsche Cayenne Turbo), accompanied with Porsche Stability Management, new Trailer Stability Control, and off-road anti-lock breaking system (ABS). There will also be present a rollover sensor, and six standard airbags.

Edo Competition Porsche Cayenne Turbo

After some major tinkering with Cayenne's 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8, Edo's engineers have raised its maximum power output to jaw-dropping 610 hp and a peak torque of 579 lb-ft (785 Nm). As a result, the vehicle's top speed now exceeds 180 mph (285 km/h) with zero to 60 mph acceleration of less than 4.6 seconds.
